Overview
The cradle of American rocketry. Captured V-2 missiles flew from 1946, and in 1949 a Bumper V-2 stack reached almost 400 kilometers, the first object above the modern space boundary. The shuttle Columbia landed here in 1982, the only shuttle touchdown outside Florida or California.
