Overview
Originally built for Atlas Agena launches of early reconnaissance satellites, SLC-3 East was rebuilt for the Atlas V, which first flew from Vandenberg in 2008. It launched Landsat 8 in 2013 and the InSight Mars lander in 2018, the first interplanetary mission launched from the West Coast, and is being adapted for Vulcan.
