Overview
A remote Pacific atoll used for high altitude nuclear tests launched by rocket. Redstone missiles carried warheads in 1958 and Thor missiles in 1962, including Starfish Prime, whose burst about 400 kilometers up knocked out streetlights in Hawaii and damaged satellites including Telstar.
