Overview
First built for the Europa II rocket, whose single launch from Kourou failed in 1971, ELA-1 was rebuilt to launch the early Ariane rockets from 1979. After the Ariane 3 era it was converted into the launch site for the Vega small launcher, which made its first flight from the pad in 2012.
