Overview
The California desert flight test center where the X-15 rocket plane landed after flights to the edge of space in the 1960s and where many Space Shuttle missions touched down on the Rogers dry lake bed. Pegasus, the first privately developed orbital rocket, flew first in 1990 after being dropped from a NASA B-52 flying out of Edwards.
