Overview
The desert site west of Baghdad where Iraq launched the al-Abid, a three stage rocket built from clustered Scud derived engines, in December 1989. Iraq claimed a success, but foreign tracking found no satellite in orbit, and the program ended with the 1991 Gulf War.
