Overview
The birthplace of spaceflight and of the missile age. The army team under von Braun developed the V-2, first flown successfully in October 1942, and in June 1944 a test round became the first object to pass 100 kilometers altitude. Allied bombing and the end of the war scattered the team to America and Russia.
