Overview
Site 1 at Baikonur, the pad that launched Sputnik 1 in 1957 and Yuri Gagarin aboard Vostok 1 in 1961. For six decades it served the R-7 rocket family through Vostok, Voskhod, and Soyuz, launching most Soviet and Russian crews. Its final launch came in September 2019, after which crewed Soyuz flights moved to Site 31.
