Overview
Formerly Wheeler Island, this small island off the Odisha coast is the main Indian test site for long range missiles, including the Agni series. It was renamed in 2015 in honor of the former President and missile scientist A P J Abdul Kalam. The 2019 Mission Shakti anti satellite test was launched from the island.
