Overview
The oldest and busiest Chinese launch center, deep in the Gobi desert. The first Chinese satellite lifted off here in 1970, and Yang Liwei rode Shenzhou 5 to orbit in 2003 as the first Chinese astronaut. Commercial pads nearby launched the first private Chinese orbital rockets in 2019 and 2020.
